It’s Baaack! Bushfire Chipotle Amber Back on Tap

Our first Charleston Beer Week is in the books! We were thrilled to see so many Two Blokes fans (old and new) at our events. We got to see our beer on tap out in the wild for the first time. And we got to socialize with people from other breweries. We’re all so busy, this is rarer than you might think! We’re so proud to be part of the ever growing craft beer scene in Charleston. Here’s what’s happening in the taproom this week:

Monday 9/19 – BUSHFIRE!!! Bushfire Chipotle Amber goes back on tap today.

Tuesday 9/20 – we’ll be at the Coastal Cupboard grilling class at 6:30pm pouring some Two Blokes samples.

Wednesday 9/21 – Kids out of school early? Never fear! Taproom opens at 4pm.

Thursday 9/22 – Mark Schuler will be playing from 6 – 8pm

Friday 9/23 – Trolly Dolly Treats and 2 Nixons Japanese Ramen/Yakitori pop-up both serving up some awesome food 5 – 8pm. Dinner, dessert, and beer! We’ve got it all.

Saturday 9/24 – Yoga 10:30am, Immortal Lobster 5 – 8pm or until they sell out!

Sunday 9/25 – Football, pizza and beer! La Morra Pizza 12 – 5pm and we’ll have a game on the TV.

We’re now offering King of Pops popsicles in the taproom! $4, variety of flavors.

From the Brewhouse:

Bushfire Chipotle Amber is back on tap as of Monday 9/19.

New: Spilt Milk stout and Red Stapler IPA are in the fermenters.

Double batch of Publican is in the fermenter. The double batch of Drone is kegged and out for distribution.

We sent our first batch out for distribution last week so keep an eye out for us around the area. Look for us at Evo Pizza, Sesame Mount Pleasant, House of Brews, Brew Cellar, Crafty Draught, Craftsmen Kitchen, Craft Conundrum, Closed for Business, Coleman Public House, Tattooed Moose Johns Island, and Homegrown Brewhouse, Madra Rua, Island House, Middleton Place, Oak Barrel Tavern, Beer Cafe, Fat Patties, Q on Bay, Accent on Winel. Charleston Beer Week Events and Brewery News

It’s going to be an epic Charleston Beer week this year! We hope you’ve been training up because this is going to require some endurance. But before we get to Beer Week here’s a rundown on the weekend events at the brewery.

Friday 9/9/16
2 Nixon’s Yakatori or Ramen pop-up 5pm – 8ish or whenever they run out.

Saturday 9/10/16
Yoga – Barefoot in the Brewery 10:30 – 11:30 am. Yoga class followed by a pint or flight.

Bluegrass – Chewbacky 6pm – 9pm. This newgrass band takes genres like 80’s, ska, jamband, funk & pop & “bluegrass” it up.

The Two Blokes taproom will be open for regular hours all week.

Sunday 9/11/16
LaMorra Brick Oven Pizza at the brewery 12 – 5pm or whenever they run out.

Monday 9/11/16
Freshman Orientation Block Party 4 – 9pm in collaboration with Ghost Monkey Brewery. Charleston Brews Cruise will be offering free transportation between the two breweries. Pizza by LaMorra at Two Blokes. Music by Mandolins and Beer.

EVO is Local  6 – 10pm local tap takeover on the back deck at EVO Pizza and Bakery in Park Circle including Two Blokes.

Tuesday 9/13/16
Charleston vs. the World  5 – 10pm Tattoed Moose on Johns Island. Hosted by Lee Distributors. Charleston’s breweries go up against beers from around the world.

Craft Conundrum Charleston Cup  6 – 10pm. Locals tap takeover in West Ashley. Come vote for your favorite!

Closed for Business Local Tap Takeover  6 – 11pm. All 42 taps will have local and South Carolina beers.

Thursday 9/15/16
Charleston Food and Wine Ticket Launch  6 – 8:30pm. We’ll be pouring Two Blokes at the Grand Slam ticket festival at the Citadel’s College Park field.

Friday 9/16/16
Immortal Lobster food truck  5pm until they sell out, in the parking lot at Two Blokes.

Saturday 9/17/16
Yoga – Barefoot in the Brewery 10:30 – 11:30 am. Yoga class followed by a pint or flight.

Flowertown Firkin Festival  1 – 5pm. Matty is tapping a firkin of Two Blokes Beer.

Trolly Dolly Treats 4 – 7pm. Yummy baked goods!

LaMorra Brick Oven Pizza at the brewery 5 – 8pm or whenever they run out.

And then we’re all going to take a big long nap… except our Head Brewer that is. Sorry Matty, no rest for the weary!

Brewhouse Updates
Our Bushfire Chipotle Amber is in the fermenter and should be back on tap late next week. The double batch of Drone Honey Rye IPA is kegged and was hogging all the space in our cooler. So we shipped our first batch of kegs out to our distributor, Lee, this week! Keep an eye out for Two Blokes beer at bars and restaurants around town. Publican English-style pub ale is kegged. The taproom is going APE for Planet of the Apricots, and this is a seasonal beer that is only available this one time. If you are a fan, come get some while you can.

Next up – Matty will be brewing the Spilt Milk Stout and another batch of Liquid Lunch with some different fun hops (it’s a surprise!). Also on deck to be brewed is the Red Stapler red IPA.

Keep Calm and Saison – New Beer Release and Weekend Hours

Just in time for Tropical Storm Hermine, we’re releasing our latest beer! Keep Calm and Saison is a French farmhouse/saison ale that is dry, fruity and peppery with a pale straw-colored haze and billowy head when poured. Saison (pronounced say-zohn) is French for “season”. This farmhouse style of beer was historically brewed in the winter months when temperatures were lower and more favorable for fermentation and then consumed by farmhands in the hot summer months. Thanks to the magic of refrigeration, we can brew this style whenever we want. However we still think it goes great with a warm but breezy late summer afternoon when you need a break from your own farm(yard) work.

The taproom will be open all weekend with extended Labor Day weekend hours!

Friday 3 – 9pm (unless the weather gets too bad)

Saturday 12 – 9pm – Yoga at 10:30am, Dashi Food Truck at 5pm.

Sunday – 12 – 7pm – La Morra Pizza will be here baking pies

Monday 12 – 9pm – Your favorite Aussie, Head Brewer Matty, will be in the taproom

We’re wrapping up another busy week at the brewery. This past week we were at our first beer festival, the Ballpark Festival of Beers, the Ark of Taste happy hour at Hometeam BBQ, and Madra Rua did a Two Blokes tap takeover. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us!

Tips to safely enjoy your visit to Two Blokes

We’ve gotten lots of great questions since we’ve opened, so we’ve pulled them together here into a guide for visiting Two Blokes. Breweries and beer halls have a long tradition of being community hubs where everyone is welcome. As parents and dog owners we wanted to create a space that everyone could enjoy safely. But we are a production brewery with heavy (and sometimes hot) machinery and equipment, so safety is our number one priority. So that everyone can have a great time and leave with all limbs attached, here are some tips for your visit:

1. Well-behaved kids, dogs and adults are welcome. Kids and dogs must be directly supervised and under control at all times.

Your leashed dog is welcome to hang in the brewery, and we have water bowls available (ask at the bar). They will probably get petted or told they are cute, so prepare them for that in advance. Another dog may also want to sniff their butt. If your dog needs to poop, that’s cool, everybody poops. But please take them outside and clean up after your dog. Ask us for help if you got caught without a bag. Dispose of poop bags in the trash inside the brewery if necessary.

Kids are welcome in the tap room. They don’t have to be on a leash (that’s your call…) But kids must be supervised by an adult at all times (both inside and out). We have kids snacks, soda, juice, and water available. The Half Pint kids club is a great place for kids to safely play games and make new friends. They will probably be talked to by strangers so prepare them for that in advance.

If your kid is found unsupervised they will be asked to immediately locate an adult. Hopefully they find you…

Adults, if you are visibly intoxicated we can’t serve you. It’s the law! And we want you to be safe so you come back to see us again. We’re happy to get you a cab ride home.

2.  Fun and Games

Games are available behind the bar.

Kids may play adult games but must be with an adult. Adults can play the kid games but have to be a good sport when they lose. Please clean up the Kids Club after use so others can enjoy it.

No running, climbing or jumping on the furniture. This is a brewery, not the Olympics. No climbing on trees or the brewing equipment. Our trees are weak and our brewing equipment is dangerous. No dancing on tables or the bar. This is a brewery not Coyote Ugly.

3. Glassware

Good news! You don’t have to steal your glass. Glasses are available for purchase from the bar for $5. We’ll give you a brand new one to take home when you check out. No scratches and it won’t make your pants or purse smell like beer.

No glassware is allowed outside the brewery for safety reasons. We know what it feels like, Walking on Broken Glass. And it’s not good.

4. Food is Fine

We often have food trucks at the brewery. Check Facebook or our events page for the schedule. You are welcome to bring food truck food inside. Please bring your trash inside if you eat outside.

You are welcome to bring your own food during times we don’t have a food truck available or cake for a birthday, etc.

We have popcorn, Lowcountry Kettle Chips, New Primal Jerky, and kids snacks available for purchase at the bar. We also have soda, kids juice boxes, and seltzer water available for purchase in the cooler at the front. You can get cold filtered water at the water fountain in the alcove between the bathrooms. Fill your water bottle, or grab a cup. Help yourself!

5. When to Visit

You’ll have a different experience depending on when you visit. We’re open 7 days a week so try us out a few different times and see what you like.

Looking for a quiet night out and a leisurely tour or chat with an owner? Come on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We are open 4 – 9pm.

Looking for a fun laid-back happy hour scene? Come on a Thursday or Friday directly after work. We are open 3 – 9pm on Thursday, and 2 – 10pm on Friday.

Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons and evenings are our peak times. You’ll find lots of families with kids, dogs, and happy adults during those times. It’s crowded and noisy and fun. We also have food trucks, and sometimes we have bands. Check our events schedule.

We are open 12 – 10pm on Saturdays. Come early if you like it quiet, or later if you like it busy.

Sundays are usually not too crowded. We are open from 12 – 8pm. Check our food truck schedule for Sunday brunch options!

6. Brewery Tours

We give regular brewery tours. By law we must offer a tour in conjunction with our beer so don’t be offended if we ask if you want a tour and this is the 7th time you’ve visited and you’ve already taken one. Please also feel free to ask at the bar if you are interested and we will set one up for you. Any staff member or owner is happy to answer your questions about the beer or the brewery.

Please do not enter the production area of the brewery on your own. Stay behind the yellow chain unless a staff member escorts you on a tour. There are many dangers behind the yellow chain from chemicals to hot brew kettles to grumpy head brewers. You must be accompanied by a staff member for a tour. Plus if you wander back there the head brewer will make you clean stuff. We are not kidding.

Do not make fun of the head brewer’s accent. He will put you in the mash tun and make you clean it. Also, he’s Australian, not English, or South African, or a Kiwi.

7. The Beer

By South Carolina law we can only serve you 48oz during your visit. That’s three 16oz pints or four 12oz glasses. You may take up to 288oz to go. We did not make this up. Ask about a growler fill or canned Crowler. Or purchase some of our barrel aged beer in bottles. We’ll help you do the math.

Be adventurous. Try something new each time. Do a 4oz taster for $2 or a flight if you’re not sure.

Drink local. We are proudly independent and brewer owned and operated! Be sure to try our other Mount Pleasant and Charleston breweries. Ask for a recommendation.

Yes, we distribute our beer to restaurants and bars around Charleston. You can find us at lots of bars and restaurants around the area, and into Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, and Florence.

What’s up at the brewery?

Food trucks, beer releases, brewing, and more!

This weekend come hungry, and come early. Our food trucks and pop-up kitchens have been selling out.

Friday 8/18
5pm – Cory’s Grilled Cheese food truck. Melted cheese, butter, bread, and beer. All of our favorite food groups on one night!

Saturday 8/19
10:30am – Barefoot Yoga class, followed by a flight or pint if you wish. Unwind, relax and reward yourself for surviving the first week of school.

12-3pm – Maya’s pop-up brunch. Come for yoga, stay for brunch.

5pm – Dashi food truck. Asian Latin fusion goodness. Try some with a pint of Chipotle Amber.

12-5pm – La Morra pizza is back for lunch!

Tuesday 8/22
Planet of the Apricots Wheat release!
We know it’s been a long wait, but it’s finally here. Get your hands on this fruity, cloudy, glorious wheat ale. This rotating seasonal wheat beer is sessionable, tangy, and nice and light for the remaining hot summer days. It’s really a great thirst quencher. For those wondering, this beer is named for our head brewer’s favorite classic movie of all time, Planet of the Apes.

Head brewer Matty has been busy. Very busy… Our new Liquid Lunch West Coast style pale ale was released last week and has been a big hit. This Tuesday he brewed the Haymaker French Saison. Look for this new beer offering in early September. Thursday and Friday he’s doing a double batch of the Drone Honey Rye IPA filling up that big boy fermenter! This Saturday he’ll be brewing a batch of the Publican Pub Ale, and next week will be another batch of Bushfire Chipotle Amber for all you smokey beer lovers out there. It’s been interesting to watch which beers are the most popular in the taproom. Our top sellers are changing weekly which is keeping our brewer on his toes!

New Beer Release – Liquid Lunch Pale Ale

We’ve just tapped the new Liquid Lunch pale ale! This fruit forward West-Coast style pale ale is crisp, clean and oh so refreshing. At 5.4% ABV it just might become your new go-to in our line up…

Head Brewer Matty used a generous amount of Cascade hops to bring out the grapefruit flavors.

Pop out for a late lunch and come try this new offering and let us know what you think. We’ll be open at 4pm.

New Beers Sneak Peak

Head brewer and bloke Matty dropped some hints on what he’s planning to brew in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for launch announcements.

  • A sessionable West Coast pale ale, eminently drinkable, around 5.4% ABV. Currently in the fermenter
  • Planet of the Apricots – Apricot Wheat. Brewing on 8/4/16. A nice light summer beer. Tart, cloudy and refreshing wheat ale.
  • Re-brewed the Publican English-style pub ale last week, and the Drone Honey Rye IPA Tuesday this week. We’re pretty sure there might be a riot if we run out of those, so he’ll make sure that doesn’t happen!

New beer on tap, and weekend plans

Thanks for a great first week, Mount Pleasant! We really appreciate the turn out and hope you had a great time at the brewery. Our new hours are posted. We’ll be open 7 days a week, Mon-Fri 4-9pm, Sat 12-9pm, Sun 12 – 5pm, and we’ve got some fun events lined up already.

Thursday 7/28 we released our Midnight Ryed Black Rye IPA 7.3% ABV. Come on by and try it out!

Friday 7/29 we’ve got the Waffle Connection food truck lined up for the evening 5 – 9pm. Chicken and waffles and beer oh my…..

Saturday morning 7/30 at 10:30 we have Barefoot in the Brewery yoga followed by Kegs and Eggs with Maya pop-up brunch from 12 noon – 3pm. We plan to do yoga every Saturday morning going forward so mark your calendar!

Saturday night 7/30 we’ve got band Good Time Duo on deck from 5-8pm.

Head brewer and bloke Matty has been working hard and has another beer on deck… we’ll let you know when it’s ready to go on tap!
