Two Beer Releases, Thanksgiving hours, and weekend fun

We’re kicking off the holiday season with two beer releases, including a long-awaited seasonal favorite, music, food trucks galore, and shopping!

Friday, 11/17 – To get things rolling on the weekend we’re releasing our new Coffee Brown – SECOND BREAKFAST. Coffee lovers are going to be very happy with this beer infused with cold-brewed Broomwagon Coffee. After a long week it will perk you up! We’ve also got Firkin Friday happening with a cask of Drone with Aussie Secret Vic hops.  Jason Bible from the Train Wrecks will be playing some tunes, and Food Box will be serving up dinner!

Saturday, 11/18 – We’re releasing our much beloved and long awaited season Who’s Ya’ Crandaddy cranberry wheat ale. You heard it here first! Get it while you can! We’ll also have the Itinerant Mobile bookmobile on site for you bibliophile needs (books make great gifts!), and food by Rebel Taqueria all day from 1 – 9pm.

Sunday, 11/19 – Rounding out the weekend we’re having a Lularoe Sip and Shop at the brewery benefiting the Boon Project for Young Adults Fighting Cancer. The holidays are hectic, so treat yourself to some comfy and cozy new fall clothing (or get some for gifts!). We’ll also have El PinchoTaco out to serve lunch 12-4pm.

Thanksgiving Week Hours

Next week we’ll have special Thanksgiving hours.

Monday, 11/20 and Tuesday 11/21 – normal hours 4 – 9pm

Wednesday, 11/22 – open 12 – 9pm. We’ll be open early for all of your crowler and growler needs. Food Box will be covering dinner. Bring all your relatives who are in town for the holiday. Or hide out at the brewery if you are avoiding your relatives especially the in-laws… Either way, come on by! We’ll have crowler specials so you don’t go to dinner empty handed.

Thursday, 11/23 – closed for Thanksgiving. So stock up beforehand!!!!

Friday, 11/24 – open at noon for Franksgiving with hotdogs and sausages by Pigman Goods/Frank Satan 12 – 5pm. Rebel Taqueria will be covering the dinner shift doing Cali-style tacos 5 – 8pm. So no, you don’t have to eat turkey leftovers unless you really really want to.

Saturday, 11/25 – normal hours 12 – 10pm – Immortal Lobster serving up the goodness  4 – 8pm… Can’t face that leftover turkey casserole? No worries. Lobster and beer is what you need, so we’ve got you covered.

Sunday, 11/26 – normal hours 12 – 6pm

Rinse and repeat! Back to normal hours the following week.

We’ve got lots of schwag in stock for the holidays including tees, hats, glassware, and tap handles, and don’t forget we sell gift cards! Makes a great stocking stuffer.

Barrel Aged Beer Releases Friday the 13th, and New Fall Beers

Head brewer Matty has been busy growing his barrel aging program and we’re so excited to try his latest creations!

Friday, October 13th

We’re taking our luck into our own hands this Friday the 13th and releasing two more barrel aged beers! Come on out to try Barrel Aged Bushfire, our chipotle amber ale aged for 5 months on Tequila barrels and Barrel Aged Keep Calm and Saison, our French farmhouse ale aged on Chardonnay barrels. That means we’ll have FOUR barrel aged beers on tap all weekend – that’s 1/3 of our taps! Also in the lineup will be Barrel Aged Log Tosser, a wee heavy on bourbon barrels, and Barrel Aged Captain Bligh’s, a robust porter on rum barrels. We’ll have the barrel aged beers on all weekend so come get some while you can!

It’s also Firkin Friday so we’ll have a wet hopped Alewife Afternoon Belgian Pale Ale with fresh chinook hops.

Damiano’s Wood Fired Pizza will be in the house so bring your appetite!

The leaves are falling so it’s time for us to add some new fall-friendly beers to our tap lineup. Coming soon look for our Second Breakfast Coffee Brown, Visibility Zero Smoked Chocolate Rye Stout, and Trials and Tripelations Belgian Tripel.

Fall Hours

Summer is done so we’re back to regular hours on Sunday 12 – 6pm. But we’re keeping our extended Friday hours for now from 3 – 10pm. Because really, who is working on Friday at 3pm? No one. So stop in and see us, and bring a friend!

New Beer Release: Wicked Throat Charmer

Today we’re pulling out all the stops and tapping our new beer, Wicked Throat Chamah. This juicy New England style IPA comes in at 6.5% ABV, 7 SRM, 75 IBUs, and is wicked awesome. Dry hopped at the height of fermentation with tons of  Citra and Amarillo, this beer is definitely hop forward but has almost no bitterness on the back end. It has a hazy orange color, and is full of tropical and citrus flavors and aromas.

If that’s not enough, it’s National Burrito Day and Rebel Taqueria will be here to fill your bellies with burrito goodness. So put down your grinders, frappes, and hoodsie cups, put on some Sox and shoes, bang a uey and head on ovah to the taproom for a pint of the Wicked Throat Chaaaamah.

New on Tap – Broom Wagon Cold Brewed Coffee
This cold brewed coffee is served on Nitro producing a smooth creamy head. Try a shot in our milk stout for added kick. This blend of Sumatra, Mandheling, and Gayo fair trade beans has a citrus and melon body, with a sweet cedar finish. Roasted at Broom Wagon Coffee on Ashley River Road. A perfect finish for the night.

Captain Bligh’s robust porter is on the toasted coconut now so that will be returning in the next few weeks. This week we re-brewed the First Blood hefeweizen with blood oranges, so that one will be coming back on tap in the next few weeks. We’re excited to debut the Wicked Throat Chamah New England style IPA. We’ve spared no expense on the hops on this one! 25 pounds of hops in a 7 barrel batch. Looks like this one is a hit already so come check it out.

New Beer Release, Steak Night, St. Patrick’s Day Fun and more!

This Thursday is the maiden voyage of our new Creamy McBoatface dry hopped cream ale! 5.8% ABV, 15 IBUs, 3 SRM. This light and easy drinking cream ale is dry hopped with Mosaic. It has a beautiful yellow hue, a creamy head, and is really refreshing. The hops add aroma and flavor, not bitterness. This is your boat beer for the summer!

Also on Thursday, Grill Force One will be hosting a special steak night at the brewery. These guys really know what they are doing on the grill. So all you carnivores come on out to try this new beer and get some delicious made-to-order steaks.

Friday, March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day!
It’s Firkin Friday and we’ll our be tapping our firkin of Lucky Charmer. This is our amazing Throat Charmer Double IPA that we’ve double dry hopped with Citra and Amarillo. This is going to be a delicious hop bomb. This unique beer will only available in the taproom on St. Patrick’s Day so don’t miss it or you will be green with envy! 2 Nixons will also be here doing what they do best and filling your bellies with green ramen.

Tomorrow we’re brewing more Keep Calm and Saison. We just ordered more kegs, and are shipping more and more beer out the back door to bars and restaurants around town.

New Beer Release: First Blood Hefeweizen with Blood Orange

Just in time for spring, today we’re releasing a new beer! Our First Blood Hefeweizen with Blood Orange.

This refreshingly tart and crisp Bavarian style wheat ale has hints of banana, coriander and clove. In German the prefix “Hefe” means “with yeast”, hence the beer’s unfiltered and cloudy appearance. We’ve also added blood oranges in the fermenter which rounds out the beer with a subtle citrusy zest on the backend.

This recipe was voted the crowd favorite at our Yelp event at Crafty Draft last spring so we’re excited to finally offer it. The low 5.4% ABV makes it sessionable choice and great for the warm spring we’ve been having.

We’ll also have Damiano’s pizza on site from 5 – 8pm so come on out to try this new release!

Saturday 3/4 – Dave ‘n’ Dubs hot dogs 12 – 4pm. Semilla Food Truck 4 – 8pm.

Matty will also be bowling at the Big Lebrewski Saturday from 11:30am – 1:30pm as part of the Charleston Wine and Food Festival.

Sunday 3/5Rolled Quesadillas 12 – 4pm.

Matty and Sean will be pouring Two Blokes beers at the Charleston Wine and Food festival in the Culinary Village Biergarten from 12 – 5pm.

Both 20 barrel fermenters are now full with Drone and Publican so there will be a lot more beer out in the wild. We just distributed for the first time our Throat Charmer double IPA which has proven to be crowd favorite in the taproom. Next up we’re brewing our dry hopped Cream Ale. We’ve also got a Firkin Friday coming up for St. Patrick’s Day, a double hopped Throat Charmer with Citra and Amarillo.

New Beer Release: Captain Bligh’s Robust Porter, and Brewery Happenings

Today we’re releasing a new beer, Captain Bligh’s Robust Porter! This big beer features toasted coconut, vanilla beans and cocoa nibs and is a fantastic holiday treat. You’ll also find some coffee notes in the background and a hint of licorice. It goes well with dessert and will certainly warm you up for the New Year.

It’s named after the ill-fated Captain Bligh of the mutinous HMS Bounty. Just like Fletcher Christian, this flavorful beer will bring you back to Tahiti… When life brings you coconuts, make beer!

9% ABV, 40 SRM, 31 IBU

This Friday Head Brewer Matty is brewing a double batch of Spilt Milk Stout (half of which will be finding its way to taps around town!). Captain Bligh’s Robust Porter also goes on tap Friday at 4pm.

We just ordered two 20 barrel fermenters which should be arriving mid- to late-January. That means we’ll be able to make more beer, which means more Two Blokes kegs will be heading out to bars and restaurants. We know you’re thirsty, Charleston!

New Beer: Who’s Ya Crandaddy Cranberry Wheat, and Holiday Hours

This week we’re releasing our winter seasonal cranberry wheat, Who’s Ya Crandaddy. We know a lot of you have been waiting for this one! This American wheat beer with cranberries is tart, crisp, and refreshing. It makes a great accompaniment for your holiday meals and celebrations. We only brew this once a year, so get it while you can! This year’s version was brewed in collaboration with Tradesman Brewing. 6.5% ABV, 4 SRM, 28 IBU

Looking for a last minute gift option for the beer lover in your life? We just received our custom Two Blokes stainless steel growlers by Shine Craft Vessels – available in limited quantities for $60 each. We also now offer gift cards in any amount. Thanksgiving Week Special Hours: YES WE’RE OPEN!

We’ll be open Thanksgiving week with special hours and lots of non-turkey food options.

Here’s the rundown:

Wednesday – November 23, Thanksgiving Eve:
We’ll be open regular hours 4 – 9pm and La Morra Pizza will be at the brewery 5 – 8pm.

Thursday – November 24, Thanksgiving Day:
Crowler Fills from 9am – 12pm so you don’t have to go to your relative’s house empty handed… We will not be serving pints or flights in the morning. But we will also fill growlers if you bring them.

We will also be open REGULAR HOURS on Thanksgiving from 4 – 9pm for the usual pints and flights. You’re welcome.

Friday – November 25:
We’ll be open special hours from 12 – 9pm for your post-Thanksgiving needs, and Pigman Goods will be at the brewery from 12 – 5pm serving up their amazing artisinal hotdogs and sausages. We’re calling this special day Franksgiving.

Saturday – November 26:
We’ll be open regular hours 12 – 9pm. Immortal Lobster will be on site serving their incredible lobster rolls from 5 – 8pm (or until they sell out, and they always do…) and Trolly Dolly Treats will be there for your sweet tooth too from 5 – 8pm.

Sunday – November 27:
We’ll be open regular hours from 12 – 6pm. No yoga. We’re taking a pause on yoga for now and will reassess that in the new year.

And for the following week of 11/28 – 12/4 we’ll have regular hours with a few fun events and food. Monday 4 – 9pm, Tuesday 4 – 9pm, Wednesday 4 – 9pm with Stouts and Stogies at 5pm, Thursday 4 – 9pm, Friday 4 – 9pm with Two Nixons, Saturday 12 – 9pm, Sunday 12 – 6pm.

From the Brewhouse:

Brewing, brewing and more brewing. This week we brewed a new beer, our Throat Charmer IPA. Throat charmer is an old Australian slang term for beer, and this beauty will definitely charm you with it’s delicious hop profile. We’ll be posting more about this tasty treat once it is ready to drink.

This week we’re also brewing Bushfire Chipotle Amber. Head Brewer Matty has been busy de-seeding almost 2 pounds of dried chipotle peppers. Yeah, it’s glamorous work alright, but it’s worth it to see more of that smoky amber goodness in the taproom!

The next batch of Spilt Milk milk stout is being kegged this week. This has been a huge hit in the taproom, and we’re thinking about possibly distributing some of it if we have enough to go around.

Next we’re brewing another batch of Liquid Lunch Pale Ale.

We’ll be doing some more firkins for Firkin Fridays soon, so keep an eye out for those on the website and Facebook page. Our Whose Your Crandaddy cranberry wheat looks like it will be ready in early to mid-December. We’ll keep you posted on that. We’re also still planning on brewing our Captain Bligh’s chocolate, vanilla, coconut stout for the upcoming winter holiday season. Stay tuned for more brewhouse updates!

Keep Calm and Saison Back On Tap, Plus Brewery Happenings

Keep Calm and Saison! Back on tap this week…

Please everyone, just Keep Calm… And Saison! Because it’s back on tap this week. We know a small panic ensued when we kicked the last keg in the taproom, but Head Brewer Matty has sorted us out with a new batch of this much beloved beer.

This French farmhouse/saison ale is dry, fruity and peppery with a pale straw-colored haze and billowy head when poured. Saison (pronounced say-zohn) is French for “season”. This farmhouse style of beer was historically brewed in the winter months when temperatures were lower and more favorable for fermentation and then consumed by farmhands in the hot summer months. With modern equipment we can brew this style any season we want, so you can drink it anytime you need a break from your own farm(yard) work. 6% ABV, 3.9 SRM, 26 IBU

It’s a great week to drink beer! Here’s the line up of events for the week:

Tuesday 11/8: Election night. Beers will be needed. The end.

Thursday 11/10: The taproom will be closed, however we’re hosting a tap takeover at House of Brews so come join us and get your Two Blokes fix over there! Rolled Quesadillas will also be at HOB. They’ll be pouring our Drone Honey Rye IPA, Bushfire Chipotle Amber, Saison, and Black Ryed IPA.

Friday 11/11: Firkin Friday!!!  Cask conditioned Honey Rye IPA on pineapple. Also, band Bungled and Botched acoustic Americana will be in the tap room. And La Morra Pizzeria will be there from 5-8pm

Saturday 11/12: Rolled Quesadillas 4 – 8pm and Trolly Dolly Treats 5-8pm

Sunday 11/13: Barefoot Yoga at the brewery 10:30 – 11:30am.

Lots of brewing going on this week! Brewing the Spilt Milk milk stout on Tuesday. The ever popular Saison is back on tap. The double batch of Drone is kegged. Thursday and Friday Matty will be brewing a double batch of the Publican English-style pub ale. And we’ve finally received all the ingredients that we need to brew our Captain Bligh – a big porter with coconut, vanilla beans, and cocoa nibs – we’re hoping this will be ready for the holidays.

Two new firkins are coming up this month for Firkin Friday – Drone Honey Rye IPA with Pineapple on Friday, November 11. And Keep Calm and Saison with Strawberries on Friday, November 18.

New Beer – Liquid Lunch with Citra, and Happenings

Head brewer Matty scored some Citra hops and we’re so glad he did, because we’ve just put on tap our Liquid Lunch Pale Ale with Citra!

This West-Coast style Pale Ale is easy drinking. It’s citrus forward, and the low ABV makes this a sessionable choice, especially if you’re nipping out of work for a pint at lunch. Shh… we won’t tell… This batch is dry-hopped with Citra and Cascade which gives it tropical fruit, spicy, floral and grapefruit notes. 5.4% ABV, 7 SRM, 36 IBU

Thursday 10/19 Thirsty Thursday with Rolled Quesadillas Food Truck 5 – 8pm. Because the only thing better than beer on Thursday is beer and quesadillas on Thursday. And guacamole. Always guacamole.

Friday 10/20 – Roadside Seafood food truck at Two Blokes 5 – 8pm! Their She-Crab Soup was Named “One of the city’s best bowls…” by Post and Courier food critic Hanna Raskin.

Saturday 10/21 Pigman Goods Hot Dogs will be here for lunch and early dinner 1 – 6pm. We can’t wait to try the Kimchi Dog!

Sunday 10/22 – Barefoot in the Brewery Yoga 10:30 – 11:30am. Yoga is changing to Sunday for the month of October. Come for the yoga, namaste for the beer!

Yoga will be followed by… Sunday Pizza, Football and Beer – 12 – 6pm. We’ll have football on, La Morra Pizzeria will be slinging the tastiest of pizza pies, and the beer will be flowing!

HALLOWEEN MONSTER MASH Saturday, October 29, 12-9pm

It’s Halloween and things are getting spooky at Two Blokes! Come see us on Saturday, October 29th for our first annual Monster Mash! There will be food from La Morra Pizzeria from 4-9, sweets from Trolly Dolly Treats from 5-8, Chewbacky will be here delighting your ears with their funky bluegrass sound starting at 5, and there will even be a special spooky firkin release – Liquid Lunch with dark cherries and blood orange.

The party goes all day, costume contest is at 7pm with prizes given in the following categories:

Funniest/Punniest Costume
Best Couples Costume

Little monsters are welcome, we’ll have special tricks and treats for them from 12-3.

In the fermenters – Double batch of Drone. Special Halloween Firkin is firkinized and getting ready for our Halloween Monster Mash party on October 29.

Next up – brewing Keep Calm and Saison French farmhouse. Still waiting on those cranberries for Who’s Ya’ Crandaddy Cranberry Wheat.

In other news, we’re investing in more kegs for in-house use to free up more kegs for external use. That means we will be able to get more beer out the back door to restaurants and bars in the Charleston area. Stay tuned for more tap takeovers and Two Blokeification in the coming months!
